Christine and Matt Traylor are delighted to welcome you to Swann House, Dupont Circle's most charming bed and breakfast. Ever since they met in Washington, D.C. in 2011, Christine and Matt shared a dream of running a bed and breakfast together. Now, they're living that dream – and they look forward to sharing it with you!
Growing up in Richmond, Virginia, Christine was always drawn to the art of Southern hospitality. She took every opportunity to host friends for gatherings, finding joy in cooking, baking, and planning the tiniest details.
But life, as it often does, pulled her in a different direction. Before the Traylors bought Swann House, Christine led a 15-year career in international development, working as a government contractor supporting the U.S. Agency for International Development. Although she loved her job, she never quite let go of her longtime dream of going full "Gilmore Girls" and owning a B&B.
In 2022, she began to think seriously about how her entrepreneurial and organizational skills could translate to owning a bed and breakfast. When the opportunity arose to purchase Swann House, she and Matt jumped on it. They sold their home outside D.C. and now live in Swann House's cozy garden-level caretakers' quarters with their two children. It was a leap of faith that has proven to be immensely rewarding.
As Swann House's newest caretakers, Christine and Matt are dedicated to maintaining the home's sterling reputation for comfort and hospitality. Christine takes particular pride in creating an elevated guest experience with a personalized attention to detail. Together, they are honored to shepherd this historic home into its next era, welcoming guests for overnight stays and special events.
